The popular exercise equipment causes about 24,000 injuries a year, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, and over a decade, 30 deaths were reported. If you follow some basic safety advice, your workout experience will be better. Here are some top tips: 1. Always use the safety key. ALWAYS. Clip it to your clothing so that if you fall, the treadmill will stop. If the machine keeps going at the speed you were using it, it can send you flying. Experts say you can easily lose your balance when you look down while moving. Navy 4. If you feel dizzy, lightheaded or just not at your best, don’t use the treadmill.
