Tasting Notes: Munchies Restaurant & Bakery May 24, 2012 12:00 AM A A Cuisine and scene: Tucked in the cellar under Ashland's Odd Fellows Building, Munchies serves a diverse menu to please palates of tourists, students and locals of any age. Business can be sporadic, making the low-ceilinged, brick-walled dining room seem like a hot spot one day and Ashland's best-kept secret the next. Recommended: Any of the Americanized but tasty and filling Mexican specialties; omelet with fresh spinach; shrimp, cream cheese and tomatillo sauce; Mo' burger with grilled onions and mushrooms and melted Swiss cheese; hand-cut french fries. Alternative diets: Vegetarian omelet and sandwiches, three vegetarian entrees; tofu breakfast saute; veggie burger and turkey, vegetarian and natural-beef patty options for other burgers; tofu or grilled-vegetable option for Mexican dishes.
