Oregon Road Conditions & Cams Email Story to a Friend December 11, 2005 Stoutenburgh 28th in national race SAN DIEGO — Isaac Stoutenburgh placed 28th Saturday at the 27th annual Foot Locker National Finals cross country race at Balboa Park. The Crater High senior, who is headed to the University of Oregon on a running scholarship, was timed in 15 minutes, 49 seconds over the hilly, 5,000-meter course. The race brought together the top 10 runners from each of four U.S. regions. Stoutenburgh ran for the West Region but didn’t factor into team scoring. The West, with five of the top eight placers, scored 22 points, followed by the Midwest with 38, South with 72 and Northeast with 78. Oregon high school champion Kenny Klotz placed fourth in 15:13. Stoutenburgh went out strong and was in the top six after one mile with a pace of 4:35. But an ensuing hill took its toll. "It’s a real deep field," said Crater coach Justin Loftus. "He ran tough, but he would be the first to say it wasn’t his best race. But the experience was incredible for him. They really do this race up." A.J. Acosta of nearby Oceanside, Calif., won the boys race in 15:02. The girls winner was freshman Jordan Hasay of Arroyo Grade, Calif., in 17:05.
