James Sand� Morrison Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Aug. 23, 2015 at 2:00 AM Posted Aug. 23, 2015 at 2:00 AM » Social News James Sandé Morrison November 3, 1934 - August 13, 2015 Jim Morrison passed away peacefully on August 13, 2015 at his home in Central Point, Oregon. He was born November 3, 1934 in El Paso, Texas to Helen Elizabeth Ruhrup and James Sande' Morrison. Throughout his life he was an accomplished musician. While living in Texas, he was pianist and organist as well as Assistant Conductor for the El Paso Symphony Orchestra for many years. Jim had natural musical talent that enabled him to play and teach many instruments. He earned his B.A. and M.A. and also taught at the University of Texas at El Paso. He was an orchestral, choir and band conductor and enjoyed leading many musical groups and students, including high school marching bands and university students in Texas, New Mexico, Indiana and California. Jim served many church congregations as their pianist, organist, choir and musical director. Throughout the years he accompanied many professional vocal and instrumental soloists, and conducted many festival choirs. Jim was a Human Resource professional in the Los Angeles area at Bekins Moving & Storage, later was HR Director for Coberly Ford, and then for Bank of Finance. After moving to Medford, Jim worked for several years in managing the HR department for classified employees for Medford School District 549C. In 1977, Jim and his wife, Martha, founded the first staffing company in Oregon, ATP - American Temporary Personnel, and later owned a number of related enterprises including ATP Mailing List Center, American Talent Professionals, Mark VII Manufacturing and JMI Industries. Jim has served as President of the Board for Goodwill Industries, Board member for Rogue Valley Symphony and a long time member of the Medford Chamber of Commerce as well as other various community and human resource associations. Jim loved travel and photography while spending quality time with his family. He will be remembered as a caring and devout Christian man who loved God and strove to help others in every possible way. He took the time to help many people that were struggling in their lives to find direction as well as employment. Jim is survived by his wife, Martha Morrison, their two daughters, Rachel K. Haney and Rebecca H. Morrison-Stoney; four grandchildren, Guenevere Haney Berg, Abigail Haney Morrison, Donald E. J. Haney II, and Clarissa A. Stoney; three great-grandchildren, Donald Haney III, Gabriel Berg and Olivia Haney. Jim is also survived by his younger sister, Sandra Garner of Louisville, KY. A private family memorial service was held at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Medford, Oregon. Jim's family would encourage donations to your local Alzheimer's Association chapter or to Providence Hospice.
