A district attorney's information filed today in Jackson County Circuit Court charges Joseph Daniel Green with attempted murder, coercion, felony fourth-degree assault, misdemeanor fourth-degree assault, two counts of strangulation and tampering with a witness. According to a probable cause affidavit, Medford police arrested Green shortly before 1 p.m. Monday after getting a report of a domestic disturbance. The affidavit said he punched the woman multiple times and pushed her into a mattress twice in an attempt to stop her breathing, allegedly telling her, "You're about to die. How does that feel?" After Green allegedly prevented the woman and her child from leaving the home, the pair managed to flee when he went to the bathroom, the affidavit said. According to the affidavit, the victim sustained a lump to the side of her head and extensive bruising. Green, who denied any dispute had taken place, is being held in the Jackson County Jail on $23,000 bail on the initial booking charges, which did not include attempted murder or tampering with a witness.
