The 2A/1A match is at 3:30 p.m., the 3A match at 5:30 p.m. and the 4A match at 7:30 p.m. The greatest local representation comes in the 2A/1A ranks, where St. Mary’s coach James Joy and two of his players, Christina Vaninetti and Chrissy Seus, will join forces with a couple of Cascade Christian players, Whitney Brookins and Krystal Holtz. In the 4A match, Ashland coach Josh Rohlfing and player Molly Grossmann will participate, along with Crater’s Nichollette LeBel and North Medford’s Candace Fleener. Handicapped run through Britt Woods is Saturday The Britt Woods Firehouse Run, which handicaps the entrants to give more participants a chance to win, will start Saturday from the Britt Festival grounds. The 6.5-mile race begins at 8:30 a.m. There also are a 3.125-mile exhibition run at 7:30 a.m. and a 100-yard fun run for kids and adults at 8 a.m. The main event is modeled after the Dipsea Run in Mill Valley, Calif., in that each entrant, except the very fastest, receives a head start based on age and gender. The biggest head start is for the youngest and oldest in the field. They will start 22 minutes ahead of the fastest. It gap reduces incrementally by one minute with each age bracket. Registration cost is $20 with shirt, $12 without. The route takes runners past some of the oldest trees in the state, gold mines and up four hills. The run benefits Jacksonville Fire Engine Co. No. 1. For information, call Dr. Doug Naversen during the day at 773-3636 or at night at 899-1214.
