SOU's Escobar nabs top seed ST. CHARLES, Mo . -- Southern Oregon University sophomore Ryan Escobar was assigned the 125-pound top seed Thursday for the 42nd annual NAIA Wrestling National Championships. The tournament begins today at Lindenwood University. Nine of the 12 Raider wrestlers in the tournament were seeded, but Escobar was the only SOU No. 1 seed in the two-day event. Escobar was runner-up in last year's championships. Third-ranked Southern Oregon has three No. 2 seeds -- Matt Armstrong (165), Daniel Sturgell (184) and Jamie Haddon (197). Other seeded Raider wrestlers are Jesse Mindlin, sixth at 149; Josh Morton, fourth at 157; Brian Samhammer, seventh at 174; Bill Walthen, sixth at 184; and Brad Gray, eighth at 197.
