Ashland Ski Area is heralding the possibility of snowfall on the peak as early as Sunday evening. The pass sale, which ends at midnight Saturday, offers savings of up to $100. Adult season passes (for those 18 to 69 years old) are available for $399, instead of the usual price of $499; junior passes (for those 13 through 17 years old) are $349 instead of $449; and youth passes (7-12) are $199 instead of $249. The Mt. Ashland offices at 693 Washington St. are closed Saturday, but passes will be available for purchase at www.mtashland.com . The National Weather Service forecast for the Mount Ashland area is calling for the possibility of snow Sunday night through Tuesday night on the mountain. Heavy rain and gusty winds are forecast for the coming weekend. Snow levels will drop rapidly Sunday night, with snow expected above 4,000 feet Sunday night and Monday, the forecast says. Mt. Ashland rises to 7,533 feet above sea level. Interstate 5 at Siskiyou Summit is at 4,310 feet. According to its website, Mt. Ashland Ski Area is scheduled to open on Dec. 12.
