Cody Borraggine was a force on the mound and at the plate as North Medford swept a Southern Oregon Conference baseball doubleheader from Grants Pass Saturday at North Medford High, 10-0 in six innings and 8-3. Borraggine went the distance in the opener, limiting the Cavemen (6-6) to two hits while striking out 14 and walking one. He also was 3-for-5 with four RBIs, including a three-run triple in an eight-run fifth inning for the Black Tornado (9-2). Aiden Horsley was 3-for-4 with three RBIs, and Frankie Rutigliano was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. In Game 2, Borraggine and Horsley were each 2-for-4 with two RBIs. SOUTH MEDFORD 10-11, CRATER 0-1: At Central Point, Carson Joe tossed a one-hitter in the five-inning opener and Bennett Thompson allowed two hits with 13 strikeouts in Game 2 to lead South Medford to a sweep at Anhorn Field. South Medford (8-3) scored 10 second-inning runs in Game 1 by virtue of six walks, one hit batter and three errors by Crater (3-9) to pull away. Joe struck out nine, walked two and only allowed a second-inning single by Damon Kindreich. Tanner Douglas had a two-run home run and Thompson added three hits and three RBIs to go along with his steady six-inning effort on the mound in Game 2. ROSEBURG 10-7, ASHLAND 0-3: At Roseburg, Ashland’s offense was held to a combined three hits in a doubleheader sweep by the Indians. Evan Corbin tossed a one-hit shutout in Game 1, which ended by mercy rule after Roseburg (9-3) scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth. Corbin finished with six strikeouts, allowing only a first-inning single by Nathan Carter. Sebastian Watson had four RBIs and scored four runs in the doubleheader for the Indians. Tyadi Williams and Keller Bloodworth each had an RBI in Game 2, and Carter added a double for Ashland (2-9). HENLEY 4-11, PHOENIX 3-10: At Klamath Falls, errors proved costly as Phoenix dropped both games after committing two errors in each of the final innings. Tied 3-3 going into the bottom of the seventh in Game 1, Henley (8-4) leadoff hitter Tim Orr reached on an error, was bunted to second and eventually scored on an infield error. Phoenix (7-5) starter Julius Bolstad allowed two hits in six innings, struck out nine, walked two and hit two batters. Brandon Zanni was 2-for-3 with an RBI single in the sixth, and Eli Page rapped a two-run single in the sixth. In the ninth inning of Game 2, with the game tied 10-10, Pirate pitcher Jusitn Wilcox struck out the first two hitters, but Henley’s Gavin Graham reached second base on an infield throwing error and scored on a dropped fly ball in the outfield. Wilcox pitched the final eight innings, allowing seven hits, striking out six and walking two. He gave up seven runs, but only three were earned. Page was 3-for-4 with three RBIs, and Bolstad, who drove in two, and Wilcox were each 2-for-5.
