Staff agreed that male dogs do seem to fancy tires, as well as bushes, trees, walls, and just about anything vertical. Mostly, it’s male dogs covering the smell of the male dog that peed there before them. Advertisement It’s a territory thing, especially for non-neutered males. You’d really have to ask a dog for a definite answer. Who knows, maybe the dog is mad at the car for not taking him somewhere. All they knew for sure was that once an object has been "claimed" by a dog, it seems to elicit a response from every male dog that ever passes for eternity.
