Police say truck killed Talent girl ASHLAND -- Police have linked a Ford pickup truck belonging to an unidentified Ashland woman with the hit-and-run death of 4-year-old Cassidy Carroll on Sunday. No charges are planned against the driver. A 29-year-old woman turned herself in Monday after seeing news reports about the accident Monday morning. She told Ashland police that she didn't realize she hit a person at the time of the incident. Based on evidence and interviews, investigators have confirmed that her Ford F-250 truck was involved in the incident, said Ashland Police Sgt. Lisa Brooks. But Brooks said she doesn't anticipate criminal charges being brought against the woman. "Analysis of the truck indicated that the driver was going the speed limit or below," Brooks said. She said police have no evidence that alcohol was involved in the incident, which occurred during halftime of the Super Bowl. "To the best of my knowledge there is nothing to indicate alcohol abuse or use," said Brooks. When the accident reconstruction report is complete in several days, all investigation information will be forwarded to the Jackson County district attorney for evaluation. Brooks declined to identify the woman since no charges have been filed against her. Cassidy is the daughter of William and Susan Carroll of Phoenix. The family was attending a Super Bowl party at the Granite Street home of Eric Dusenbury on Sunday. Police said Cassidy and Dusenbury's 3-year-old were crossing the road when Cassidy was hit by a truck that didn't stop. Dusenbury said his 19-year-old son was playing football in Lithia Park with a group of children ages about 4 to 10 at the time of the accident. No adults witnessed the accident.
