The Chop Shop lineup Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Oct. 26, 2015 at 12:01 AM Posted Oct. 26, 2015 at 12:01 AM » Social News Food carts familiar and new have made their way to the Chop Shop, a former car lot transformed into a food-cart destination in downtown Medford. Here's an overview of the trucks you'll find from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays at the corner of Eighth and Fir streets. All accept debit cards, though some stands may charge an additional fee for their use. Cheesesteak King The stand, owned by Chop Shop owner Benny Shapiro, offers a range of burgers, sides and quick bites, but he's most proud of his Philadelphia Cheesesteak sandwiches ($8). "We actually import the rolls from Philly," Shapiro said. Sensitive to the needs of college students and others on a budget, the stand offers corn dogs for $2, grilled hot dogs for $3, and burgers starting at $4, with sides such as fries and tots, as well as other specials. Find Cheesesteak King on Facebook or call 541-690-4066. Curbside King After a decade of cooking for chain restaurants such as Red Lobster, Olive Garden and Buffalo Wild Wings, Curbside King owner William Snyder set out on his own last month with Curbside King. "I was ready to do my own thing," Snyder said. The stand offers a mix of different cuisines, such as the teriyaki chicken bento with grilled pineapple, bell peppers, onions and a mango habanero salsa. Prices are around $8. Find Curbside King on Facebook or call 541-282-4733. Figgy's Food Truck Using farm-fresh produce, sauces made from scratch and ambitious ingredients, Figgy's bright green food truck has become a familiar sight in downtown Medford over the past four years. Menu items change with the seasons, but expect soups, salads, sandwiches and other gourmet lunches ranging between $5 and $7. Vegetarian and vegan options are typically available. "We like to cook with fresh ingredients," owner Melissa Jones-Hanscom said. See www.figgysfoodtruck.com . Fired Up For the past six months, Cody Diehl has been creating street food at prices less than $10. Although Diehl has been cooking for seven years, Fired Up! is his first experience in the food truck business. "My number one passion is food," Diehl said. Menu items include breakfast burritos served all day, the Chèvre Burrito, and the "Smokin' Bowl," with brown rice, black beans, carnitas and chipotle aioli. Rotating items include fried ravioli with marinara sauce and carmelized onions, barbecue pork sliders and "Pappy's Tacos." Find Fired Up Food Truck on Facebook or call 541-973-4753. Peruvian Point Over the past two years, the red trailer offering the flavors of Peru has been a familiar sight at Southern Oregon winery events, Rogue Valley Growers and Crafters Markets and at various places in the downtown area during lunch. Owner Christian Ainzuain has been cooking authentic Peruvian food his whole life. He sources local produce and healthful ingredients at prices less than $10. Regular items include the Lomo Saltado tri-tip stir fry with onions, tomatoes and parsley ($9), Don Cesar grilled chicken sandwich ($8), Antichucho de Pollo marinated chicken with salad and cilantro rice ($8), and Quinoa Salad ($7) served with potatoes and steamed rice. Free delivery is available for two orders or more. Call 541-261-9299 or find Peruvian Point on Facebook. Wok Star Wok Star features a dynamic and growing menu of Asian fusion dishes created by chef Quinton Cutting-Johnson at prices under $10. "I'm a classically trained French chef," said Cutting-Johnson, but his passion is Asian food, and he partnered with owner Russell Evans to create Wok Star. "I was born and raised in Hawaii, so I love Asian food," Cutting-Johnson said. "I grew up on this stuff." The Steak Bento ($9) mixes seared steak, Japanese sticky rice and Asian slaw. Other dishes include Kimchi Fried Rice and charzu (Chinese barbecue) pork. Call 541-621-3779 or see www.wokstarfoodtruck.com .
