The two long-time RVWBA members rolled out the ceremonial first ball at the start of the RVWBA city tournament on Saturday. James has bowled in several local leagues for nearly 20 years and was the Medford Women’s Bowling Association director (1974-79) and vice president (1979-82). She has been the state 600 Club’s sergeant-at-arms for the past 25 years. As the MWBA’s vice president, James helped form the hall of fame and, in 1979, inducted its first members. James has also volunteered with several state and local tournaments over the past 20 years. On the lanes, James was a member of a team that finished fourth at the national tournament in Reno, Nev., and helped her squad to a first-place finish at the MWBA city tournament. James has finished with the high series four times in local league play and has eight dutch 200 games, five games that were 100 pins over her average and has bowled numerous 600 series. Bostrom, who will join her mother, Lee Golden, in the hall of fame, has bowled for 39 years and held the position of director of the RVWBA, coached in the Ladies Instructional League and at South Medford High, and was a league officer and league secretary. Bostrom has notched 35-plus 700 series and has rolled a 298 as her high game. She placed first three times in the team event at the Oregon State Bowling Tournament and has taken first in the singles division of the city championships three times. Other tournaments Bostrom has competed in include a PBWA regional tournament, WIBC International Tournament, the U.S. Open in Portland and the Brunswick World Team Challenge in Concordia, Calif. Golf Ten-year-old Stephan Walker carded a hole-in-one Feb. 5 on the 154-yard fourth hole at Quail Point Golf Course. Walker used a 7-wood for his first-ever ace. Witnessing the event were his dad, Rob Walker, and uncle, Matt Walker. Richard Moyer aced the 160-yard fifth hole at the Stewart Meadows course in Medford on Wednesday. A teacher at South Medford High School, Moyer used a 5-iron. Playing partner Jerry Green witnessed. Leon Stupfel notched a hole-in-one on the 140-yard 12th hole at the Stone Ridge Golf Club on Feb. 12. Stupfel used a 9-iron to ace the par-3 hole. The shot was witnessed by Bob Mayfield, Jim Hagemann and L. Mooney.
