Several red flag warnings instituted across Southern Oregon and Northern California Monday didn't pan out, thanks to winds that didn't allow the storm clouds to bloom to full strength.  "We were getting convection over the mountains. I mean, you could see out over the mountains, but I think it was just sheared off by some stronger winds aloft," said Wright, of the National Weather Service office in Medford. "Storms weren't able to get strong enough to produce any lightning. "We just refer to it as the storms getting knocked over." Weather can be fickle, and forecasts sometimes don't pan out. This time, it's good news for fire crews already battling wildfires across the region. Forecasters have instituted another red flag warning for later today, with chances for abundant lightning in the Cascades and parts of the Umpqua National Forest, northeastern Jackson County, eastern Douglas County and northwestern Klamath County. The advisory is in effect from 5 to 11 p.m.  Officials say they will keep an eye on it, but they think there's a possibility for a Monday repeat.
