The man, whose name was not released, had not been found and was presumed dead, said Capt. Joe Puckett, of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department. Ambulances left the scene about an hour and 30 minutes after arriving. Fishing with two other men in a canoe, the man fell out of the craft when it overturned. He was not wearing a life jacket, Puckett said. Crews were called around 9:15 p.m. to the pond, located on private property off the 5200 block of Old Stage Road. A six-man water rescue team from Jackson County Fire District No. 3, along with search and rescue divers and marine deputies were combing the 20-foot-deep, 200-foot-wide pond late Sunday.
