Another student came forward with similar allegations after the news broke Thursday, the Jackson County District Attorney's Office said. Richard "Ricky" Michael Fay, 38, of Medford, was arrested Wednesday on child porn charges after a 17-year-old student of his said he had been exchanging sexually explicit messages with her over the past year. According to an affidavit filed in Jackson County Circuit Court, Fay exchanged text messages that were "sensual and sexually explicit" with the student, and the document cites an April 26 texting thread as an example. The student texted she wanted to show him her red dress but she didn't have time, according to the affidavit. "Show me now," Fay texted back. After the girl sent a sexually explicit photo of herself, Fay responded, "Oh wow. ... Beautiful girl ... I know what I will be doing later ... More pictures," the affidavit states. A forensic search of the student's phone showed explicit text messages were received from Fay's phone number with a 503 area code, and explicit picture messages were sent to Fay's phone at his request, the affidavit states. Other computer evidence was also seized, according to Medford police. Fay was completing his second year teaching social studies at South Medford, where comments on social media described him as a teacher popular with students. After allegations broke Thursday, three students submitted five-star reviews of Fay on RateMyTeachers.com , including an AP U.S. History student who described Fay as "easily my favorite teacher," before describing how Fay would bounce around the classroom acting out famous scenes from history. Fay was arraigned via video conferencing from Jackson County Jail Thursday afternoon, where he entered not-guilty pleas on felony charges of using a child in the display of sexually explicit conduct, attempting to use a child in the display of sexually explicit conduct, second-degree encouraging child sexual abuse, luring a minor and a misdemeanor charge of attempted second-degree possession of materials depicting the sexually explicit conduct of a child. During Fay's court appearance, Deputy District Attorney Zori Cook said an additional victim had just come forward as of noon Thursday. Citing the seriousness of the allegations, Circuit Judge David Hoppe set Fay's bail at $500,000 — more than double what prosecutors requested. Because Fay is facing Measure 11 charges, the only way he can be released is if he posts $50,000, 10 percent of his bail amount. According to a release issued by Medford police, detectives interviewed Fay Wednesday before lodging him in jail. Police executed a search warrant Wednesday at Fay's apartment in the 800 block of East 10th Street, where they seized "digital evidence" related to the case. Medford police Lt. Kevin Walruff said the investigation is continuing, and that even before the student came forward Thursday, detectives had believed the original victim wasn't the only one involved with Fay. Medford School District spokeswoman Natalie Hurd said that Fay, who taught social studies at the high school, has been removed from the classroom pending the outcome of the investigation. In a statement, Hurd said the school district is fully cooperating with police. "As stated in Medford School Board adopted policy, sexual conduct by district/school employees as defined by Oregon law will not be tolerated. All of our staff are trained annually on the prevention and identification of sexual conduct or sexual grooming behavior," the statement read in part. The statement says students in Medford School District learn from police as early as elementary school age to beware of online sexual predators. "The curriculum covers everything from protecting information and passwords, to cyber bullying, to the dangers of sharing explicit photos," the statement reads. "The (school resource officer) program is an integral part of our school system and students trust our SROs to confide in them on everyday issues as well as to report dangerous behaviors and criminal activity."
