Medical director for Sky Lakes Wellness in critical condition Stephanie Van Dyke Monday Jan 9, 2017 at 5:53 PM Jan 9, 2017 at 5:53 PM By Johanna Bernhard Klamath Herald and News Stephanie Van Dyke, the medical director for Sky Lakes Wellness Center, is in critical condition at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland following a sledding crash Saturday morning. Van Dyke, 39, sustained extensive injuries after she was struck by a pickup while sledding in the Pacific Terrace neighborhood. As she was coming down Manzanita Street, she was hit by a motorist crossing the intersection with Pacific Terrace. “At this moment she is critically injured and not expected to live,” Sky Lakes Medical Center Public Information Officer Tom Hottman said. “She is still alive but could pass at any minute.” Van Dyke will become an organ donor, Hottman said, and preparations for that process are underway. Van Dyke has played an extensive role in Klamath Falls’ community health system, opening Sky Lakes Wellness Center in March, 2015. After establishing Engeye, a nonprofit health clinic in rural Uganda, Van Dyke was an instrumental figure in bringing the Blue Zones Project to Klamath Falls; the first one in the state of Oregon. She also was a former board member for Klamath Basin Behavioral Health. “I can speak for many people when I say Stephanie Van Dyke’s passion for service to people and her enthusiasm and advocacy for better health is inspiring,” Hottman said.
