Glenda A. Sommer, 40, was listed Monday in critical condition in the intensive care unit at the Rogue Valley Medical Center in Medford, where she was being treated for unspecified injuries, a hospital spokeswoman said. The accident occurred at 6 a.m. while Sommer was driving her 1990 Oldsmobile sedan east on Highway 62, Oregon State Police said. Steve Baker Lolandi, 51, of Eagle Point, was attempting to turn his garbage truck onto the westbound lane of Highway 62 from Ball Road, the OSP reported. The truck turned into the path of Sommer’s car, triggering the collision, OSP reported. Lolandi was not hurt in the wreck, police said. The OSP did not say Monday whether any citations were issued, and the accident remained under investigation.
