With many races across the county uncontested, Rogue River had three candidates vying for a single seat — Myers, Davis and Ed Angeletti. In unofficial final results, Myers captured 44 percent of the vote, or 657 votes, while Angeletti got 29 percent (436 votes) and Davis got 26 percent (395 votes.) Before the election, Myers said he wanted to oust Davis and get a new face on the board. With Myers running against Davis, newcomer Mike Kuntz could run unopposed. Angeletti said he knew Myers would continue to do a good job. Advertisement "I wish Johney all the best," Angeletti said, adding that he plans to stay involved in the schools his kids attend by serving on the district budget committee. Davis was philosophical about the election results. "I’ll do what the good Lord intends whether I win or lose," he said. Myers, a Rogue River pharmacist and business owner, wasn’t available for comment Tuesday night. In a four-way race in Eagle Point, board member Scott Grissom, who also switched positions to open a seat for a newcomer, was ahead of the pack. He had 1,126 votes, roughly 42 percent of the vote, and incumbent Yvonne Fletes had 400 votes, or about 15 percent. Former board member Fred Thomas, who wanted Grissom off the board, got 719 votes, or about 27 percent, and newcomer Jon Vait got 396 votes, or 14 percent. Incumbent Theresa Erickson pulled ahead of challenger Deborah Brown, with 1,554 votes, or about 60 percent of the vote. Brown got 1,052 votes, or about 40 percent. Erickson was appointed to the board in January when Thomas stepped down because travel took him away from board business. Newcomer Jonathan Bilden ran unopposed. In Prospect, incumbent Kim Marshall garnered, 182 votes, or 78 percent of the ballots cast, to challenger Michele McIntyre’s 51 votes, or 21 percent. McIntyre, who had never run for office before, said she will remain active in the community schools. In the only contested race on the Rogue Community College Board, David Trump, a retired surgeon and vineyard owner, was leading with 1,245 votes, or nearly 45 percent of the vote. He has served on the board for four years and wavered in running for re-election. "Then I decided I would miss it too much, so I threw my hat into the ring," he said. By then two other candidates had joined the race, not expecting to have to face an incumbent. Tim Johnson, of Ruch, got 1,120 votes, or nearly 40 percent of the vote and consultant Wallace Kaufman got 406 votes, or about 15 percent. Countywide, 21,477 voters cast ballots, just 17.7 percent of registered voters.
