Anchor's away, in Texas Whatever happened to Kelli Johnson, who used to be the sports anchor on Channel 10 news (CBS) on the weekends? We all thought she was pretty good and miss her. -- William F., Medford Apparently you and your friends weren't the only ones who thought Kelli was pretty good, William. Like many other up-and-coming broadcast journalists, Kelli had an opportunity to go on to greater things in a bigger TV market, and she took it. Gary Leaming, news director at Channel 10, recalls that she went to work for a new Time-Warner cable sports channel in Texas. He believes it was in the Austin area. Johnson was with Channel 10 for about a year. In a column published on Jan. 24, 1999, the Mail Tribune's Randy Hammericksen noted that Johnson also was a fine basketball player for the University of Idaho, graduating in 1998. Johnson told Hammericksen she turned to sports journalism to sustain her love and contact with sports. "I've always thought about being a sports reporter," she said at the time. "I like to talk."
