Kische takes home Big Al’s crown Jul 20, 2015 12:00 AM A A ASHLAND — Austin Kische of Yreka beat second-seeded Michael Gooding, 7-6, 7-5, in the Big Al’s Tennis Tournament men’s open final at Hunter Park on Sunday. In the women’s open title match, top-seeded McKenzie Hilmer — a former North Medford High standout — became a three-time Big Al’s champion after edging unseeded Elizabeth Stevens in a tiebreaker. Chris Atzet of Merlin and Evan Schleining of Medford defeated Gooding and Peter Warren of Ashland, 6-4, 7-6, in the men’s doubles final. Stevens and Mischa Kirby picked up the mixed doubles crown. Complete results were not available at press time.
