Jackson County search and rescue crews spent all day Monday looking for Brian Ginnea, who recently moved to Medford from Southern California. The crews were searching a snowy timber stand near Dutchman Peak in the Siskiyou Mountains southwest of Ashland. The region was hit with a weekend storm that dumped more than an inch of new snow in the Siskiyous. Ginnea apparently had been sleeping in a snow cave and had run out of provisions before calling his mother, Jackson County sheriff’s Capt. Joe Puckett said. "He decided he needed to come down and he wanted some help," Puckett said. He regularly sent text-message updates to his mother during the search, Puckett said.
