"The best moment is always taking home the cup," said junior Hallie Beaver, one of the few returners from last year's team. "That thing's just huge. It’s such an accomplishment." The meet was held Friday and Saturday at Mt. Hood Meadows. It had been postponed from early March due to a low snow pack. In addition to the team title, Grizzly boys and girls won several individual events. Beaver took first place in slope style. "She is doing tricks comfortably that most girls rarely try," said Ashland coach Matt Faurot. Advertisement Beaver dislocated an elbow earlier in the season. She returned to action first in a sling, then in an arm brace. "At first I had a mental block that stopped me from performing as well, but I got through it," said Beaver. Following in Beaver's footsteps, newcomer Allison Wren tied for third place in slope style, then won the individual boardercross. "For a freshman to be state champ is pretty amazing," said Faurot. Sophomore Soleil Rowan-Caneer took fifth in individual slope style and sophomore Athena Haxton was sixth. Junior Caitlin Madigan placed fourth in individual boardercross. The Ashland Boys 1 team placed second and the Boys 2 team was fifth. Junior Isaiah Thalmayer was runner-up in individual boardercross, junior Galen Pritchard was fifth and senior Gabe Gonzales sixth.
