Phoenix’s Goff earns first-team Skyline honor By Mail Tribune staff Jun 04, 2022 04:44 PM A A Phoenix senior Raelyssa Goff provided a driving force this past softball season for the Pirates and was recognized for her efforts recently during all-league voting by the Skyline Conference coaches. Goff was the lone Phoenix softball or baseball player to earn first-team recognition, with the standout infielder recognized for her all-around play. Goff finished the season with a .528 batting average to go with 31 runs and 34 RBIs. For a team that didn’t hit a single home run in 2021, Goff belted three home runs to complement four doubles and one triple. She was also 26-for-27 in stolen base attempts. Phoenix teammates Jayden Vos, Alexis Dial, Violet Harper and Carsyn Gallegos were each named to the all-Skyline second team. In baseball, junior catcher Andrew Hull was the leading vote-getter for Phoenix with his second-team selection. Hull batted .320 with 14 RBIs and eight stolen bases, throwing out five of the nine attempted basestealers during league play. Henley’s Elizabeth Powell was named the Skyline softball player of the year, while teammate Annie Campos was joined by Mazama’s Caelyn Davis as co-pitchers of the year. Mazama’s Todd Nickerson was named Skyline coach of the year. Hidden Valley senior standouts Isaac Hill and Nate Vidlak shared the Skyline baseball player of the year award, while the Mustangs’ Mark Vidlak was joined by Mazama’s Pete Whisler in being named Skyline baseball co-coaches of the year.
