[Andy Atkinson / Mail Tribune] A Rogue River woman gave roosters a run for their money, and now has a trophy worth crowing about. Sporting a roostery red hairdo, Trisha Cromwell looked the part almost as much as she sounded it, and was awarded first place Saturday in the human crow competition at the 69th annual Rooster Crow in Rogue River. Cromwell said this was her first time competing, and her crowing strategy was simple: crow loudest and crow best. She practiced most of the morning, and said her throat was still a little sore, but it was a labor of love for her favorite town’s big event. “I know it’s a silly thing, but I really love the Rooster Crow,” Cromwell said. Cromwell said she loves her hometown so much that she named her kids Rogue River and Oregon. “Ever since it’s been my choice, I just stay here,” she said.
