GAMES Zombies join in the horror produced by local game companies Trilobyte Games, Pixel Productions unsheath scary projects Comment By Greg Stiles Mail Tribune MailTribune.com By Greg Stiles Mail Tribune Posted Apr. 16, 2015 at 5:47 PM By Greg Stiles Mail Tribune Posted Apr. 16, 2015 at 5:47 PM » Social News Scary games seem to be all the rage in the Rogue Valley. Not only has Trilobyte Games unleashed its 20th anniversary version of its classic video game "The 7th Guest," but Pixel Productions is poised to begin a Kickstarter campaign that will put the finishing touches on its "Zombie Mutation" board game. Trilobyte Games unveiled an Android operating system version Thursday with a high-definition, touch-screen interface, along with new maps, animations and icons. With the move to Android space, Trilobyte Games' now plays in all OS-based markets. The Medford firm has licensed its intellectual property surrounding "The 7th Guest" and "The 11th Hour" to Israeli company MojoTouch of Tel Aviv. MojoTouch remastered the title and ported it to Android, said Trilobyte co-founder Charlie McHenry. "It opens up a whole new market for our property. Later on down the line, MojoTouch will introduce new, remastered versions of our properties for other operating systems as well." The 20th anniversary edition features new game-play controls, slick icons and animations, improved voice-acting audio quality, optional subtitles and four music options: remastered music score, original score in Midi, General Midi or Adlib. The 20th anniversary edition is available now through the launch weekend for $3.99 at Google Play or Amazon AppStore. Following the launch, the price will be $5.99. It can be downloaded at http://get.mojo-touch.com/7thguest. Pixel Productions has played  a role in more than 100 board games, including work for Eagle/Gryphon Games, adding its design touch. This time around, however, the Hawthorne Street group is all in from start to finish. "We love zombies here," said owner Chris London. "Everyone here was into 'Walking Dead' comic books, and then when it went to television, we were all that waiting for each new episode. It's just our pastime here." After working on the project for two years, Pixel Productions estimates its final to-market costs will be $65,000 to $75,000. "We've been building a following for this and have the support we need for our April 21 launch," London said. "We want to ensure the funding so we can produce the game the way we want to." The Pixel staff has spent hundreds of hours doing illustration work on "Zombie Mutation: City of Mayhem." "We love the genre," he said. "Obviously, it's a game for people who like zombies. It isn't a game for everyone, but it's fun for everyone to play."
