Vandeheys offer new attitude at golf course The Red Mountain Golf Course in Grants Pass, nestled off Interstate-5, recently changed hands in ownership. Kris and Brad Vandehey purchased the course from Dave and Shannon Snook and just finished their opening week of new ownership. "We had a great turnout," said Kris Vandehey, who, along with her husband Brad, moved to Grants Pass from Banks, where they have spent the majority of their lives. "There were some new faces out there too." The Vandeheys, both 37 years old, had planned on starting a golf course in Banks but the plans fell through. Snook took over ownership from his father, who built the course in 1991. He was the owner for 10 years before turning the reigns over to the Vandeheys. Owning golf courses apparently is in the blood for the Vandeheys. A total of six courses are owned or run by different members of the family, including the Oregon City Golf Club. "We aren�t going to make any major changes to the structure," said Kris Vandehey. "The structure of the course is in great shape. We are just taking time to keep up the course itself." Although no immediate changes are going to be made to the course, the Vandeheys have plans for the future. "We plan on lengthening the course sometime in September," she said. "But right now we�re just trying to get all the little things in order." The 2,245-yard course is located about four miles off I-5. It is a par-29 course for nine holes and 57 for 18. "It�s really a beautiful course," said Vandehey. "You look around while you are playing and the course is surrounded by mountains." Course fees are $7 for nine holes and $12 for 18. Seniors 55-over is $6.50 and $11 for nine and 18 holes, respectively. Juniors age 6-18 pay $5 for nine and $8 for 18.
