Talent man and Texas fugitive arrested on drug charges in Lane County MailTribune.com Writer Posted Oct. 16, 2014 @ 1:00 pm Posted Oct. 16, 2014 @ 1:00 pm » Social News A man wanted on a warrant stemming from felony drug charges in Texas and a Talent resident were both arrested after police found four pounds of marijuana in their vehicle during a Wednesday traffic stop in the Eugene area. Oregon State Police reported Thomas Garza, 48, of Talent, and 43-year-old Anthony Balascio of Allen, Texas, remain in the Lane County Jail today. Garza is held on charges of unlawful possession and delivery of a controlled substance, while Balascio is held on an out-of-state warrant. At 1:07 p.m. Wednesday on Interstate 5 at exit 192, an OSP trooper pulled over a Nissan SUV driven by Garza for multiple traffic violations, including expired license plates and following too closely. During the stop, the trooper learned Balascio was wanted on a felony warrant out of Texas for possession and manufacture of marijuana. He was arrested. The trooper then searched the vehicle and found the four pounds of marijuana. The estimated value of the drugs is $10,000, OSP said.
