WEATHER Strong winds, possibly more rain expected through Monday Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Feb. 8, 2015 at 2:08 PM Posted Feb. 8, 2015 at 2:08 PM » Social News Another round of strong winds and some moderate rain is expected to surge through the Rogue Valley and other parts of southwest Oregon tonight into late Monday. The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory through 10 a.m. Monday because of the expected breezes. Southeast winds of 20 to 30 mph are expected near Medford, with gusts of 40 mph. Ashland could see gusts of up to 47 mph, meteorologists said. Weather officials also issued a high wind warning for more mountainous areas around the region. Diamond Lake could see gusts of 55 mph, while Crater Lake could see gusts close to 90 mph. As much of the surrounding terrain is already saturated from last week's storm, meteorologists say to expect more falling trees and prepare for possible power outages. More rain is also expected, with one-third of an inch expected to fall in Medford by Monday afternoon. Parts of Dead Indian Memorial Road could see more than half an inch, while Lake of the Woods might see an additional three-quarters of an inch. Crater Lake and Diamond Lake could see more than an inch. Snow levels are expected to drop down to 6,000 feet or so tonight into Monday, with as much as six inches of snow expected to fall on areas above 6,000 feet.
