Enoch leads Knights past Pirates MERLIN Senior central midfielder Malloree Enoch sparked the North Valley girls soccer team with a second-half hat trick in a 3-1 win over Phoenix on Thursday. The Pirates (4-4-1 overall, 2-1 District 6) scored in the first minute when sophomore right midfielder Kat Coxs cross was finished by sophomore forward Larrisa Wiltrout. Enochs barrage for the Knights (5-2-2, 4-0) began in the 49th minute with an unassisted tally from 8 yards out. Six minutes later, Enoch made the most of another solo effort, completing a determined dribbling dash by deking the Pirates goalkeeper and taking the ball unopposed into the net. In another five minutes, Enoch struck again, this time knocking home a cross from freshman forward Shae Miller. After scoring 38 goals as a forward last season, Enoch has a team-leading nine while directing from the midfield this fall. "Shes a stud," said Phoenix coach John Doty, who gave sophomore Sarah Kieffer the unenviable task of shadowing Enoch. North Valley outshot Phoenix, 14-11. ST. MARYS 3, ROGUE RIVER 0 At Rogue River, Emily Smith scored a hat trick to lead St. Marys to a District 6 win. Smith was assisted by Margo Chamberlain on all three goals as the Crusaders improved to 5-1-1 overall and 3-1 in District 6 play. Rogue River fell to 0-3.   HIDDEN VALLEY 5, ILLINOIS VALLEY 0 At Murphy, Shea Ford scored a hat trick and Nina Jaramillo added two more goals as Hidden Valley cruised to a District 6 win. Ford and Jaramillo each scored a goal in the first half for a 2-0 lead at the break. Jaramillo notched her final goal, sandwiched in between Fords remaining scores, in the second half for the Mustangs (2-5-1, 1-2 District 6).   Boys ILLINOIS VALLEY 2, NORTH VALLEY 0 At Cave Junction, Beau Brown and Doug Hedrick scored first-half goals to propel Illinois Valley to the upset win. The Cougars moved to 1-6 in District 6 play while North Valley dropped to 1-4-1.   Mail Tribune Home | Ottaway Newspapers, Inc. | Dow Jones & Co., Inc. | Privacy | Contact Us Copyright 2001 Mail Tribune, Inc.
