John Brent Merriman Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Oct. 11, 2015 at 2:00 AM Posted Oct. 11, 2015 at 2:00 AM » Social News John Brent Merriman John Brent Merriman, 57, passed away at his home in Ashland, Oregon September 12, 2015. Brent was raised in Ashland where he is best known for his outstanding, competitive athleticism. Brent is still in the top 20 at Ashland High School where, as a freshman he set records in hurdles and as a sophomore and junior he set records in high jump and long jump. After graduation he moved to Alaska where he worked as a logger. Even though Brent lived in Ashland, his heart was always in Alaska. Those who knew him were subject to his raw sense of humor. Brent enjoyed fishing, camping, and gardening. He also had a very unique way with animals. Brent leaves behind a significant other, Wanda Rogers; a brother, Brian C. Merriman (Serena); a sister, Bobbi Merriman-McLaine; a nephew, Jesse Merriman; two daughters, Jennifer Merriman and Breanna Merriman; two granddaughters and two grandsons. No service is planned.
