One dead in Williams Highway crash By Mail Tribune staff Updated: Mar 01, 2022 10:11 AM A A A Grants Pass man was identified as the man who died in a Josephine County vehicle crash. Andrew Crist, 54, of Grants Pass, died Monday evening on Williams Highway near Grants Pass after he reportedly lost control of the Chevrolet S-10 pickup he was driving and collided into oncoming traffic, according to a release issued by Oregon State Police. At 6:13 p.m. Monday, the truck first drifted onto the shoulder of the roadway, according to the preliminary investigation. Crist lost control of the truck and slid into the oncoming lane — and into a Toyota RAV4 driven by 24-year-old Donnie Thomason of Grants Pass. Crist died at the scene of the crash. Thomason was uninjured. Grants Pass police, Josephine County Sheriff’s deputies, Rural Metro Fire and Oregon Department of Transportation assisted OSP at the crash scene.
