Panthers succumb to Crater CENTRAL POINT - The South Medford wrestling team made a brief run at an upset of Crater in a Southern Oregon Conference dual meet on Thursday. The Panthers started the match with three straight wins before succumbing to the Comets, 51-21. Kevin O'Shea got South off on the right foot by pinning Zane Yarnell at 171 pounds to start the match. Jordan Fisher (189) and Ben Vandagrift (215) followed with victories to give the Panthers an early advantage. Crater, however, answered with wins in 10 of the final 11 matches - six coming by pin - for the SOC victory. Ian Rasmussen provided the Panthers with a pin at 119 for South Medford's final win of the night. For Crater, Jeremy Firestone (112), Nate Gipson (135), Jeremy McLaughlin (140), Jordan Godley (145), Rudy Ramirez (152) and Chris Dearmon (275) all pinned their opponents. North got wins from Jim Ulrey, who wrestled up a weight at 152 pounds, and Rob Folsom (160) in a couple of marquee matches. Ulrey decisioned Trevor Knight, 11-2, and Folsom stopped Tom Martin, 5-4. North's other wins came by decision from Chris Oetinger at 119 and Kyle Wells at 145.
