Medford police have identified 25-year-old Shane Anthony Zornes as the suspect in the fatal shooting of 27-year-old Isaac Deleon of Central Point. Zornes remains at large and should be considered armed and dangerous, police said. He is described as a white man, 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing 200 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. He has multiple tattoos and a noticeable scar above his left eye. Investigators say Zornes also goes by the nickname "Scarface." He was last seen wearing a black beanie, black hooded jacket, black gloves and blue jeans. Anyone who sees Zornes should contact Medford police at 541-770-4784 or 911. A warrant has been issued for his arrest, and a grand jury will review the case. "(We) believe he has very limited resources here in Medford and may be approaching strangers to get a ride, use their phone, and sell his guns," a statement from Medford police reads. "We believe he may be trying to get back to Washington." Police said Deleon was walking near Bartlett and Main streets with friends at about 2:15 a.m. Sunday when Zornes and two other men approached them. After talking for a bit, Zornes allegedly pulled a handgun out and shot Deleon in the chest. Police say they are still trying to determine the reason Zornes pulled the trigger, though the incident is not believed to be a gang-related. Budreau said Deleon and Zornes did not appear to know each other, but the men with Zornes knew Deleon. "We think we have a good idea of some of the conversation that was going on before the shooting," said Lt. Mike Budreau, who declined to elaborate on the specifics of the conversation, as the investigation is ongoing. "It still doesn't make a lot of sense." After the shooting, Zornes and the two other men allegedly ran east. A surveillance camera captured them before and after the shooting, and detectives were able to identify them all. The two other men, who police say have not been charged with a crime, have been located and interviewed. Police tracked Zornes to a Motel 6 on Biddle Road at about noon Monday, but just missed him. Officers canvassed the area and found a man who said someone matching Zornes' description had tried to sell him two handguns in the parking lot of Witham's Restaurant. Zornes could not be found.
