Jackson County at 183 deaths By Nick Morgan Updated: Aug 23, 2021 03:17 PM A A 308 new cases reported in Jackson County, 234 new cases reported in Josephine County Health officials recorded the deaths of 24 Oregonians over the weekend, including the deaths of four Jackson County residents and one Josephine County resident. The four latest Jackson County deaths were those of a 49-year-old man who tested positive July 31 and died Aug. 16 at Asante Ashland Community Hospital, a 55-year-old man who tested positive Aug. 14 and died Thursday at Providence Medford Medical Center, an 84-year-old man who tested positive Aug. 15 and died Thursday at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center in Medford and a 90-year-old man who tested positive June 28 and died Aug. 15 at RRMC, according to a release issued Monday by the Oregon Health Authority. The OHA is still determining whether the 55-year-old Jackson County man had underlying health conditions that contributed to his death, and had confirmed that underlying conditions were present in the three other deaths Monday. The latest Josephine County death was that of a 61-year-old man who tested positive for the coronavirus Aug. 14 and died Friday at Asante Three Rivers Medical Center in Grants Pass, according to a Josephine County Public Health release. He had underlying conditions, and had not been vaccinated for COVID-19. Josephine County health officials release the vaccination status of COVID-19 fatalities in their daily updates, but Jackson County Public Health does not. Other deaths reported Monday were residents of Clackamas, Curry, Douglas, Lane, Lincoln, Marion, Multnomah, Tillamook and Umatilla counties in their 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. State health officials also recorded 4,701 new cases across Oregon over the weekend, including 308 new cases in Jackson County. Broken down by county, the latest cases include 659 in Lane County, 582 in Multnomah, 398 in Douglas, 401 in Washington, 366 in Clackamas, 365 in Deschutes, 234 in Josephine, 195 in Marion, 186 in Linn, 113 in Polk, 80 in Columbia, 78 in Union, 71 in Klamath, 69 in Umatilla, 66 in Coos, 61 in Benton, 49 in Tillamook, 41 of Lincoln, 34 in Jefferson, 29 in Morrow, 23 in Wasco, 19 in Clatop and Crook, 16 in Wallowa, 14 in Harney and Hood River, 10 in Grant and five in Gilliam. There were 209 coronavirus patients in Jackson and Josephine County hospitals Monday, according to the state. The number is a new record. Across the state, there were 937 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 Monday. The number is an increase of 37 from Sunday.
