Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Feb. 13, 2009 at 12:01 AM Posted Feb. 13, 2009 at 12:01 AM » Social News ASHLAND — ScienceWorks will celebrate the International Year of Astronomy Saturday and Sunday with hands-on astronomy activities, an unveiling of NASA images, a world premiere of a film celebrating Galileo and stargazing. A new exhibit, "Outreach to Space," will be on display in the discovery lab on Saturday and Sunday. Kids' hands-on activities will be available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Star Lab planetarium shows will run at noon and 3 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday. At 6:30 p.m. Sunday, ScienceWorks will unveil large-format Hubble images that NASA donated to the museum. The images are taken from the Hubble, Chandra and Spitzer telescopes. The film "400 Years of the Telescope," shot with IMAX-quality digital photography, will be shown at 7:15 p.m. Sunday. At 8:15 p.m. Sunday on the ScienceWorks plaza, Southern Oregon Skywatchers will be on hand to offer expert advice while visitors stargaze using telescopes from the ScienceWorks lending program and AFN.
