Drug dealer gets more than 12 years in meth case Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Jan. 14, 2015 at 2:13 PM Posted Jan. 14, 2015 at 2:13 PM » Social News A Medford drug dealer was sentenced to more than 12 years in federal prison Monday after a 2013 traffic stop in Central Point led to the discovery of 4 ounces of methamphetamine and a trash bag full of marijuana in a car he was driving. Steven Allen Longbrake, 28, of Medford, was sentenced to 12-1/2 years by senior U.S. District Judge Owen M. Panner. Longbrake pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute on Sept. 15, 2014. After he completes his prison sentence, Longbrake will be on supervised release for five years, according to a news release by the Department of Justice. Longbrake was pulled over by Central Point police Lt. Scott Logue on Oct. 15, 2013, for improper signaling in the area of Beall Lane and Highway 99. In his police report, Logue said the Honda Civic Longbrake was driving smelled strongly of marijuana and that Longbrake was fidgeting nervously. Logue called for backup and received permission from Longbrake to search the car. Officers found 4 ounces of methamphetamine in Longbrake’s pocket and in the car, a trash bag filled with marijuana in the back and digital scales and drug packaging in Longbrake’s backpack, the release said. Longbrake has prior felony convictions for first-degree burglary, manufacture of a controlled substance and delivery of a controlled substance. His criminal history also includes previous convictions for fourth-degree assault, strangulation, third-degree escape and possession of a controlled substance, the release said. The case was investigated jointly by the Central Point Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration and was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Judith R. Harper.
