Lakeview stays undefeated The Honkers (12-0 overall, 4-0 Skyline) jumped out early on the Knights with solid defense and precise serves. "We played really tough defense and got them out of their game," Lakeview coach Barry Shullanberger said. Junior outside hitter Jess Childress led the Honkers with five kills, and was 14 of 15 from the service line with two aces. Junior setter Megan Albertson went one better, going a perfect 15-for-15 from the line while notching four kills. "Our serving was tough," Shullanberger said. "We kept their passes off the net, and they had to hit some more down balls." Senior Francis Hartman chipped in with five kills. Whitney Coston led North Valley (4-4, 2-2) with six kills, while Nicole Roberts added eight digs. PHOENIX 15-15, MAZAMA 4-0 - At Klamath Falls, Phoenix improved to 2-2 in the Skyline Conference by putting 34 of 35 serves in play. The Pirates (5-3 overall) also got six kills and three blocks from junior middle Tiffany Ross, four kills and three blocks from junior middle Kelly Meredith and four kills from junior outside hitter Cassie Tolman. ROGUE RIVER 15-15, ILLINOIS VALLEY 4-8 - At Cave Junction, Katie Glasscock had 10 kills to help lead the Chieftains to their second win in Skyline Conference play. Illinois Valley dropped to 1-3 in Skyline play. SCL ST. MARY'S 13-15-15, CHILOQUIN 15-11-7 - At Chiloquin, Kristina Easton had two aces down the stretch as St. Mary's pulled away from a 7-7 tie with eight straight points to win Game 3 and the match. Junior middle Christina Vaninetti had 10 kills and seven stuff blocks for the Crusaders in their Southern Cascade League opener. Libby Trum added seven kills and 24 digs and Chrissy Seus had nine kills and 12 digs for the Crusaders, who improved to 5-2 overall.
