Bear Creek to put on 40th anniversary event Bear Creek Golf Course will hold its 40th Anniversary Tournament on July 29. The tournament format is an 18-hole, two-person best ball with men�s, women�s and mixed divisions. The event is sponsored by Skinner Auto Plex. ASA men�s, women�s softball tourney Aug. 5-6 The Hot August Hits men�s and women�s slowpitch softball tournament will be Aug. 5-6 at the Southern Oregon Fields in White City. The tournament, an ASA qualifying event, will be limited to 24 men�s and 16 women�s teams, with five games guaranteed. Entry fee is $200. Wharry to wrestle in World Championships South Medford High wrestling coach Ken Wharry will compete in the Masters World Wrestling Championships in Frieberg, Germany, Aug. 1-6. Wharry, 36, will wrestle in the 35-40-year-old, 152-pound division. He finished sixth in the 167-pound classification in last year�s world championships. Wharry won a NAIA national championship at Southern Oregon University in 1988. He is a defending two-time national masters champion. The Club West wrestling club is sponsoring Wharry�s trip and is defraying part of the $2,600 expense for the trip.
