It has a bright white light and sometimes a bright red light. Is it a cell tower? — Tim M., Ashland Tim, you guessed it. AT&T was issued a county building permit for the 125-foot cellphone tower Feb. 19, and it was installed shortly after, much to the chagrin of southeast Ashland residents who consider the bright red aviation-warning light obnoxious. The tower is located on a small piece of land under county jurisdiction behind audiobook producer Blackstone Audio. In 2013, FDH Velocitel, a wireless network services company hired by AT&T to engineer the project, notified all the neighbors within 250 feet of the site of its plans. At the time, only Blackstone requested a public hearing. Those living in the area may be opposed to the unsightly white tower, but some may come to appreciate better reception.
