Since You Asked: Jackson County commissioners make different amounts Wednesday Oct 12, 2016 at 12:01 AM How much does a Jackson County commissioner make? Is it salary or per hour? — Mary, Medford   For starters, Mary, county commissioner is a salaried, elected position with Jackson County. As of July 1, Doug Breidenthal makes an annual salary of $100,318.40. Rick Dyer makes $95,555.20 annually, and though Colleen Roberts is authorized to collect the same salary as Dyer, she voluntarily draws a salary of $68,432, the amount the position paid in 2008. Roberts objected to a big pay increase for the commissioners in 2008, and she campaigned on a pledge to take less money.  In January, Dyer's pay will rise to $100,318.40, but Roberts said she will continue to take the same voluntarily reduced salary. Breidenthal was defeated in the May primary, so the pay for the third commissioner will be determined after the November election. When former Medford City Councilor Bob Strosser beat Breidenthal in the Republican primary, Strosser said he would consider taking the same amount as Roberts.  Strosser's challenger, Democrat Jeff Thomas, has previously proposed stretching the county's current budget for commissioners from three to five paid positions. — Send questions to “Since You Asked,” Mail Tribune Newsroom, P.O.
