One driver dies, two others injured when head-on collision closes Highway 62 SHADY COVE � A Trail man was killed and two others injured in a head-on collision Sunday on Highway 62. Raymond Duane Osborne, 59, was killed when his pickup collided head-on with a sport utility vehicle, Oregon State Police said. He died at the scene. The crash happened just before 6 p.m. north of Shady Cove near milepost 22. Police said Osborne was driving east when his 1988 Toyota pickup went onto the shoulder and then across the roadway into the oncoming lane, where it collided with a 1997 Ford Explorer driven by Suzanne Rae Bacon, 45, of Trail. Bacon and her husband, 49-year-old Jack Edward Bacon, both suffered minor injuries. All three people were wearing seat belts, and air bags deployed in the Bacons� Explorer. Osborne was following his wife�s vehicle when the accident occurred and she was at the scene of the crash. Jack Bacon was taken by helicopter to Rogue Valley Medical Center, while his wife went by ambulance. Both were treated and released. Police said alcohol does not appear to have been a factor. The accident slowed traffic on the highway until after 9 p.m. The southbound lane was closed for about two and a half hours.
