Missing kids are home safe WONDER -- A 9-year-old boy and his little sisters were found safe and sound Sunday morning after they got lost in the woods and had to spend the night outside. The youngsters -- Trevor Porter, Chauncie Porter, 8, and Brittanie Brummett, 6 -- were found by their father, Russell Brummett, and two uncles about 1.2 miles north of home, according to Josephine County sheriff's deputies. They had been missing about 16 hours. A number of Rogue Valley agencies took part in the search, including Search and Rescue teams from Josephine, Jackson and Douglas counties and a helicopter crew from the Portland-based 304th Air Rescue Squadron. Wonder is located about 13 miles west of Grants Pass. The children apparently got lost after they walked into the woods west of their residence on Wonder Lane. The family called for help just before 6 p.m. after an hourlong search proved fruitless, deputies said. The family had only recently moved to the area, deputies added. The search resumed at dawn Sunday. Brummett and the uncles, Toby Myers and Ed Howard, found the children around 9 a.m. The kids were cold, wet and hungry but otherwise unharmed.
