She was born June 15, 1938 in Butte, Montana to Leonard and Jean Smith. Darlene attended Medford High School where she met her husband, Donald. They were married September 2, 1961. Don and Darlene spent 54 years together; raising three children, loving five grandchildren, and building countless friendships wherever they ventured. Darlene was known for her humor, stubbornness, and love for her family — including lifelong friends who became family. She enjoyed being involved in everyone’s lives, never forgetting a birthday or special occasion, and enjoyed camping with family and friends, creating many happy memories at her favorite place, Howard Prairie. She found great happiness in years spent watching and attending NASCAR races, and from rooting for her favorite team, the Oregon Ducks. She will be dearly missed by her husband, Donald; son, Mark and his children, Travis and Kenneth; daughter, Deana, her husband, Mike, and children, Cory (Elizabeth) and Dean (Kaylee); son, Brett, his wife, Claudia, and their son, Donald; and numerous other beloved relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Conger-Morris Central Point Chapel, 800 S. Front St., Central Point, Ore. 97502. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Darlene's name to St. Jude Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105, stjude.org , or to the Providence Community Health Foundation, Medford: Coughlin Nursing Education Fund, appsor.providence.org/giving .
