No one was hit, police said. A department news release said officers responded to reports of a man menacing his ex-girlfriend with a handgun in the 600 block of Black Oak Drive at 10 p.m. The woman told officers the man fled in a vehicle. People who know the woman followed the man in another vehicle, the release said. Investigators said these men also had a firearm with them. A single gunshot was reported in the 1400 block of Prune Street at 10:46 p.m. Police recovered a single shell casing at the scene, but no one was hurt and no suspects were found. Police have not recovered the bullet. A Jackson County Sheriff's Department deputy located the vehicle believed to have been the getaway car at the corner of Blackwell Road and Merita Terrace in Central Point. The two occupants were detained, but police would not comment on whether they had since been released. Police would not say yet whether any official charges had been filed, and the identities of those involved were withheld. "We hope to, once we make an arrest in this, put out the names in this and see if there’s any additional information," said Medford police Lt. Kevin Walruff. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Medford police at 541-774-2230.
