Letters, Sept. 12 By Ashland Tidings readers Sep 12, 2020 12:00 AM A A Vote for Graham We have known Tonya Graham for many years as she worked as executive director for local environmental groups. We know her to be tireless, steady and consistent. With Tonya, we will not get grandstanding or trying to use others to further her ends. We’ll get unselfish service and an independent voice for the good of the city. Please vote for Tonya Graham for mayor. Sheila and Mel Canal Ashland Vote for Kim Thatcher I had the opportunity to work closely with Kim Thatcher during my time representing Southern Oregon as your state senator. She is incredibly smart, well-balanced, and not afraid to stand up for what she knows is best for our great state. Maintaining a healthy balance of government should always be at the forefront of our minds, and Oregon is at a critical point this election cycle. I ask voters of all political affiliations to pay close attention to the secretary of state race, which includes Sen. Kim Thatcher and Sen. Shemia Fagan. Knowledge is power, and you have that power in your hands. It’s time the voters embrace the power of individual research during this election cycle. In honor of former Secretary of State Dennis Richardson, please join me in voting for Sen. Kim Thatcher. She will do a great job for all Oregonians. Alan DeBoer Ashland Vote Tonya for mayor I am proud to endorse Tonya Graham for Ashland mayor. Over the 12 years I have known this energetic woman, I have gotten to know her many skills. I have seen her manage a houseful of children, a full-time job as executive director of Geos Institute, volunteer for the community (raising money for turf for the high school; running Senior All-Night for many years), be active in her church, and juggle all this with good humor, grace and unflappability. She’s the most grounded person I know. Tonya understands budgets, the environment, housing, how to grow the local economy and much more. She knows how to research perplexing issues, find common ground among those with opposing views and work well with others without giving up her firm principles.
