Gold Hill eyes chief hopefuls GOLD HILL -- The City Council Tuesday night interviewed three candidates for the position of police chief. One candidate is from out of state and two candidates are from Oregon, said Gold Hill Mayor Tim Roddam. Gold Hill City Council members interviewed two of the candidates over the telephone and one in person. The council will not release the names of the candidates until they make a decision. The council will call the candidates back for a second interview and ask representatives from local law enforcement agencies to sit with the council during the interview. "It will be a peer interview," Roddam said. "We will invite chiefs of police and civic leaders from around the valley to help us with the interview." The Gold Hill City Council is serving as the personnel committee in the search for a new police chief. The city has been without city police protection since former Gold Hill Police Chief Dave Crawford was convicted of misdemeanor charges.
