Eighteen-year-old Sheana Borja was lodged in the Jackson County Jail Monday on charges of first-degree attempted assault, attempted assault on a police officer, menacing and unlawful use of a dangerous weapon. Her bail was set at $38,000, She was still in jail Tuesday, according to jail records. Police responded to a domestic disturbance at about 10:40 a.m. Sunday at an apartment in the 2100 block of Roberts Road, said Medford police Lt. Mike Budreau. Police received reports from family members that Borja was breaking items in the home and needed help. An officer entered the house and heard breaking noises upstairs. "As they were waiting in the living room, and the officer was keeping an eye upstairs, (Borja) came out and was carrying a large kitchen knife," Budreau said. Borja chased the apartment residents and the officer outside before throwing the knife and turning around to go back inside, police said. "It was a very scary incident," Budreau said. "It was so close to being an officer-involved shooting." Police took Borja into custody and transported her to Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center, where she was placed on a mental health hold and then released.
