Jackson County reports 117 new COVID-19 cases By Staff report Updated: Sep 14, 2021 04:31 PM A A State logs 2,040 new cases, 44 more deaths Jackson County reported 117 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday, while Oregon logged 2,040 new cases statewide. The state reported 44 more COVID-19-related deaths. Information about the deceased, including their age and county of residence, wasn’t immediately available. On Tuesday, 1,082 people were hospitalized with COVID-19 across Oregon, seven more than Monday. There were 288 COVID-19 patients in intensive care Tuesday, 14 more than Monday, the Oregon Health Authority reported. Jackson and Josephine county hospitals were caring for 179 COVID-19-positive patients Tuesday, a slight drop from 182 Monday, according to hospitalization data. There were 55 COVID-19-positive patients in ICU beds in the two counties Tuesday, up one from 54 Monday. OHA reported five ICU beds available. The number of COVID-19 patients on ventilators ticked up to 32 Tuesday compared to 31 Monday, hospitalization data show. The peak number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 in the two counties was 223 Sept. 1. Jackson and Josephine counties still have more than double the number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients than during a surge last winter, according to OHA.
