Community Food Store votes to open Medford store It looks like the idea of an Ashland Community Food Store in Medford may become a reality. The store's board members agreed Thursday night to expand the organization to include a Medford store. "That doesn't mean the store is going to happen, but it probably will," said Marta Boyett, the store's general manager, who is not on the board. "We're a long way from being there," Boyett said. The feasibility of a Medford store depends on several factors, she said, including the availability of a suitable, cost-effective location, and getting appropriate financing. Boyett said the timeline also depends on those factors, and she couldn't predict when a store might open. But, she said, "We would hope to have a store open within a year." The food store started as a food cooperative 27 years ago. It's a nonprofit organization with 4,500 members and sales of $6 million a year.
